The goal of the school is to create a nurturing experience, allowing children to thrive socially, academically, and emotionally and to prepare them for a successful transition to kindergarten. The curriculum is play-based with an emphasis on learning. At Smoke Rise Nursery School, the skills required for present day kindergarten are carefully integrated into activities where children are exploring, interacting, discovering and having fun. Our teachers are CPR/First Aid certified and our school is accredited by the state of New Jersey. We have a 10-month program and competitive tuition. We are proudly serving Bloomingdale, Butler, Kinnelon, Pompton Lakes, Riverdale, West Milford and other surrounding towns.

Smoke Rise Nursery School was established in 1955 and has been thriving ever since, educating children from Kinnelon and other neighboring towns. We are located in Kinnelon within the gated community of Smoke Rise.

We have changed our cooperative approach in order to adapt to the needs of the community. Parents are no longer required to join the cooperative part of the school. The Executive Board and Trustees have decided to move the school towards more “non-volunteer” based on feedback received from current families and alumni. However, there are still a wide variety of opportunities to work for the school if you are interested. If you choose to serve on our Executive Board or one of our committees, you will be given a discount on our tuition.
